S20 Transport & Distribution Branch member since 1977, elected MATSA staff rep in 1982, GMWU branch secretary and full time convener in the private security industry in 1984. Appointed full time GMB regional organiser in 1988 working in Leeds, moving to Sheffield in 1997 and then appointed senior organiser in 2003.Team leader for the Sheffield and Chesterfield team of officers and staff and member of the regional management team. Other responsibilities include heading up the commercial services section, retired members’ association, regional accompanying representatives, the region’s website and the regional health & safety committee as well as being the regional pensions and policies officer. Member of the Wentworth & Dearne Constituency Labour Party. Accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management in 2005, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health in 2008 and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in 2011.

Peter has responsibility for members in Sheffield City Council including those outsourced from the council such as Chartwells, Kier, ISS, SIV, Veolia and Sheffield Galleries & Museums Trust and manages the associated team of full and part time conveners on secondment from the local authority, (see list below).

Sue looks after Sheffield Homes, Sheffcare, and other private care homes in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire as well as Rotherham Council and the wider Rotherham area.

Responsible for Remploy and Action Housing as well as pubs and clubs, Doncaster Council and the wider Doncaster area. Also responsible for our membership employed under the national agreements for engineering construction and thermal insulation, i.e. NAECI & TICA.

Paul is responsible for Barnsley Council, associated contractors and the wider Barnsley area including SafeStyle (UK) Ltd in Wombwell as well as our members in general engineering and the steel industry.

GMB Learning Resource Centre
A learning resource centre for GMB members is now open at the GMB Sheffield office on 188-190 Norfolk Street, S1 1SY, between 10am and 4pm on Thursdays only. A project worker will be on hand to advise on numeracy, literacy, CV writing and/or basic IT skills and will be able to signpost members to other learning opportunities where appropriate.
