GMB Union is angered at the news that Derbyshire County Council want to close down its care homes.

After years of underspend in Adult Residential Care, Derbyshire County Council want to close the homes and sell off the land for profit.

We demand that the Council reconsiders this callous course of action and instead, invest the funding back into upgrading or rebuilding local residential care facilities for our vulnerable adults.

The alternative of placing our older residents at risk of the crisis ridden, private providers, located who knows where and controlled by profit at a greatly increased cost and distance is unpalatable!
