CAMPAIGNS

Leeds private hire drivers are currently facing many issues which could potentially affect their ability to earn a decent living wage, such as the reduction of the age of cars which can be used from 8 years to 6 years, the age of first licensing to change from 4 years instead of 5, changing the age restriction of a car, forcing drivers to change the ‘slightly’ tinted windows at a cost of £500, entrapment followed by a lengthy appeals process, followed by suspension and prosecution.

Many private hire taxi drivers have already joined the GMB, one of the UKs largest and powerful trade unions. At a recent meeting of drivers in Leeds there was a unanimous decision taken to join the GMB and fight injustice. Join the GMB and become a member of the Private Hire Association branch and fight for fairness.
