Not only has the council annihilated the terms and conditions they are forcing through something which doesn’t work says GMB.
GMB members employed in Sheffield Council’s housing services will take strike action on Wednesday 6th January 2016 in a dispute over the imposition of changes to terms and conditions of employment and the imposition of the council’s new housing management scheme, Housing Plus.
These members voted in favour of action last month and begun a work to rule in mid- December after the council imposed the restructuring without agreement.
The members will hold a lunch time protest outside the Town Hall. The details are as follows:

Peter Davies, GMB regional organiser, said “Speakers at the protest will talk about their experiences and the consequences of the introduction of Housing Plus, a restructured housing service that the Council are imposing without trade union agreement in Sheffield.
As front line staff face losing thousands in pay, their area managers, who are forcing through the changes, will see their pay packets boosted by thousands of pounds. It is the same old story.
Not only has the council annihilated the terms and conditions, they are forcing through something which doesn’t work.
The test pilot which the council said works, doesn’t. The scheme is not working in the south-east area of the city where is it being piloted and customer satisfaction is low.
GMB is asking union members and the public to attend the protest to show support on the 6th January for the striking housing workers.”
