Airedale General Hospital NHS Trust is considering plans to create their own private company to run their Facilities, Procurement and Estates Department, our fear is that this could just be the start.
The private company would be known as a “wholly owned subsidiary”.
The Trust claims that by doing so they will make substantial financial savings. Trade Unions and staff are anxious that substantial savings can only be made by eroding terms & conditions; such as sick pay, pensions or even wages – future employees would be employed on much worse terms & conditions.
The Board of Directors are due to make a decision at their next Board meeting on the 25 October 2017. We are calling on the Board of Directors to:
- Shelve the plans all together
- Defer any decision in order to consult more widely with the public
