New GMB union site gets the thumbs up

GMB Union officially opens its new premises in Sheffield as part of the move to be a fit for purpose, 21st Century trade union.

GMB Union's new state of the art facilities in Sheffield will be officially opened tomorrow by their National President, Barbara Plant, when she unveils a plaque at the Meadowhall site (26 October 2018 at 10.00am).

The new facilities will allow better interaction with the 40,000 members based in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire through a new activist learning centre, conference facilities and extensive meeting rooms.

Senior Organiser, Sue Wood, said: "Unfortunately our old office on Norfolk Street was no longer fit for purpose and didn’t represent the needs of a modern 21st Century union like GMB."

"Our new facilities will provide greater access to GMB Union for our members and will allow us to interact in a modern and effective way."

Sue added: “Our new GMB Union office is also ideally located for members across South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire, with parking and excellent public transport links which will make travelling to the office for conferences, events and meetings much easier.

"Officers and staff look forward to welcoming branches, reps as well as members to our new premises."
