2010 Branch Event

12 May 2010

Provisionally arranged for the weekend of November 13th & 14th further details will be confirmed shortly. Once again the theme will be the union’s GMB@Work policy of membership growth, an increased activist base and effective workplace organisation. Invitations will be sent to Branches and activists with the emphasis on colleagues that didn’t attend last time around. The General Secretary, Paul Kenny, has been invited to hear and share Branch best practice and take part in a question and answer session together with the Regional Secretary, Tim Roache, and all the Region’s full time officers.

Senior Organiser Graham Benton commented, “Feedback from last year’s successful event has led the management team to organise another opportunity for colleagues from all Branches in the Region to mix and take part in sharing their experiences of GMB@Work which has undeniably resulted in GMB being Britain’s fastest growing union. In the 12 months since April 2009 our Region alone grew by 2.1% bucking the trend elsewhere. Still cynical about the policy? Want to know how others are doing it? Look to question the management team? Then register and come along and hear how your colleagues are growing the union in times of a recession.”

Further details and confirmation to follow. (12 May 2010)
