GMB ASKS NHS MEMBERS TO REJECT 2008 PAY OFFER

10 May 2008

GMB members do many jobs in the health services including ambulance crews, porters, catering, ancillary staff, administration, cleaning, laboratory workers, drivers and maintenance staff.

Sharon Holder, GMB National Officer said, “The ballot contains a recommendation to reject the proposed three year pay deal and calls on the Government to pay in full the 2008 Review Body recommendation and to re-open talks with NHS unions on an improved offer for 2009 and beyond. This decision was reached following preliminary consultation with GMB National Committee members on the National Advisory Group and key GMB activists working in the NHS and Ambulance Service. The outcome of the consultation was a resounding call to reject the proposals set out by the Government. We will know the wishes of GMB members working in the Health Service on the Thursday 29th May when the ballot closes.”Ends
