GMB Supports Bradford Bulls

3 Apr 2012

The Rugby League Players’ Association and GMB react to Bradford Bull’s uncertain future. GMB and the RLPA will work with the Club, its staff and the RFL in order to try and ensure that Bradford Bulls continue as a Club.
The Rugby League Players’ Association, which is part of the GMB union, commented on the present financial situation at the Bradford Bulls Club which the union is closely monitoring.
Geoff Burrow, RLPA secretary and GMB Sports officer, said: “The RLPA will work with the Club, its staff and the RFL in order to try and ensure that Bradford Bulls continue as a Club.  The RFL contacted me at 8.15am yesterday morning and informed me of the very serious financial situation.  This has been a shock to everyone in the game when one of the most successful Club’s is facing this sort of danger.”
The RLPA will today be making a financial pledge to assist the Club. GMB’s Yorkshire Regional Secretary, Tim Roache,  has agreed to match the financial pledge.  The RLPA will be contacting all affected members over the next few days.
Tim Roache, said: “The Club, players, coaches and staff are suffering great stress at the moment and the uncertain future should remind people of the need to be supported and represented by the RLPA and GMB.”
