Regional Branch of the Year Awards

The region is pleased to announce the winners of the two branch awards which are due to be presented by the general secretary, Paul Kenny, on Saturday, 12th November 2011 at the branch activists’ weekend event in Wakefield.

*The winner of ‘Regional branch of the year 2011’ is R62 Rotherham General for outstanding achievement in .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Criteria was based on performance in line with GMB@Work policy and principles with evidenced membership growth over the preceding year, evidenced increase of the branch activist base, evidence of effective workplace organisation and an action plan for the next year.

*The winner of ‘Branch community campaign of the year 2011’ is C40 Chesterfield No 1 for outstanding work in promoting GMB@Work in the community. This award goes to the branch that advocates equality and inclusion across the broad spectrum of communities which may involve community organisations. It recognises the encouragement and commitment of the branch to work within any community group that endeavours to work towards advocating social justice and give a voice to their community‚Äôs cultures. The branch provided evidence of community engagement strategies that have been adopted, e.g. events the branch may have run, learning methods used to promote awareness and profile of GMB and recruitment and development plans for community work together with a demonstration of achievements.

The judges were impressed with all the submissions and would like to thank them for participating.
