Clive Warley From Team GMB Carries Olympic Torch

19 Jun 2012

Clive Warley, GMB activist and Branch Secretary from York General Branch, lit up the sky in York this evening when he took part in the official Olympic Torch-bearing ceremony.  Clive is one of the City of York Council’s two nominated Torchbearers.

Tadcaster Road, The Shambles, Bishopthorpe Road and a section of the Bar Walls were among the spectacular York routes that the Olympic Torch took before it arrived at York Racecourse’s main stage on a thoroughbred horse.

Commenting Clive said: “I feel honored to have been chosen to carry the Torch and am really humbled that GMB would nominate me for such a prestigious event.  It’s a great opportunity and I hope everyone gets behind the games.”
