Brave the Shave

GMB representative Allison Morrell from Doncaster Central Branch has raised a staggering £1190 to date for Macmillan Cancer Support as a result of her sponsored head shave.

Allison made the brave decision to have her lovely locks shaved off to raise money for the cancer charity but also in memory of a close friend who lost her life to cancer in July 2015.  Lynn Hall was 51 when the cancer she had been battling 5 years earlier returned and took her life.

By ‘braving the shave’ Allison wanted to show her support for men and women with cancer whilst raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Cancer has a devastating impact on peoples’ lives and it’s important that they have a support network that can help them through the traumas that this illness brings.  From the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, Macmillan Cancer Support will help give people the energy and inspiration to take back control of their life.

Speaking to The Pulse Allison said: “I know that every penny raised will go towards supporting people with cancer so they get the help they need.  I couldn’t think of a better cause and I am overwhelmed by people’s generosity, especially GMB and the branches that donated, Doncaster MBC and my friends and family.”

It’s not too late to donate to Allison’s sponsored head shave just visit Brave The Shave and donate what you can.
