The GMB Regional Equality Forum were sickened and appalled by the death of African American, George Floyd, at the hands of a police officer.

One hundred and fifty years since the abolition of slavery, 52 years since the Civil Rights Act, and racism is still endemic in the United States.

We support those calling for an end to racism and call on the Federal and individual state governments to do more to get rid of the scourge of racism. However, racism and prejudice is not peculiar to the United States.

The GMB has a proud record of campaigning for equality at home and abroad. We stand in solidarity with those fighting for equality and justice throughout the world.
