The GMB Union, Yorkshire’s trade union for taxi and private hire drivers, has reached an agreement with Wakefield Council to build a new consultation framework for drivers, that will enable both the trade and the Council to review all licensing policy and improve services across the City.Read more
GMB has launched an indicative ballot for industrial action at Calderdale Council. The ballot will cover workers in Green Spaces, Street Scene, Transport and Community Protection, and is in response to members’ concerns that their GMB rep is being bullied by management.Read more
Wakefield is a must win by-election for the Labour party, a win will further reduce the Tories Parliamentary majority preventing further attacks on working people.

This afternoon we concluded interviews on who to endorse as part of the upcoming selection for Labour candidate in Wakefield. Both candidates performed well but we have on this occasion decided not to endorse a candidate.
We wish the candidates well in the upcoming selection and look forward to campaigning for a Labour victory in the upcoming by-election.
The team from GMB were outside an Asda store on Chaucer Road in Sheffield today as part of a National Day of Action, to show support for Asda workers and to raise awareness with shoppers and the public of the current equal pay dispute with the giant retailer.Read more
