Learning at Work Day
The Sheffield Homes Learning at Work Day on 19th May at the Millennium Galleries provided staff with information and advice about local learning opportunities and facilities.
Thanks to Sheffield Homes for backing the event by giving staff time off to participate and to Peter Morton for coming along to support us on the big day.
The day had been a joint effort between the unions to enable staff to ask questions as well as experience various forms of formal and informal learning.
We had over 350 Sheffield Homes visitors throughout the day. So a big thank you to all the members of staff that came along. We hope you found the information and support that you wanted, and were inspired by the well-attended workshops on truffle-making, singing, nail art.
• Sheffield College had a number of enquiries from staff about how to get started with GCSE qualification in English and Maths.
• Northern College captured the imagination of staff by offering affordable taster courses in subject of interest, including Criminal Psychology, Sociology and Local History.
• Dyslexia Action had over a dozen enquiries.
• Union Learn offered advice and support to more than 20 Sheffield Homes staff on how to create a Record of Achievement as they begin to learn new skills.
So, for all those inspired by what they saw, please keep us up to date on what you are doing and if you would like our help going forward with your learning don’t hesitate in contacting the ULR’s on - 07970 608815.
