ISS PROTEST DEMANDS END TO ‘POVERTY WAGES’

Frontline workers employed by ISS at Calderdale Royal Hospital held a demonstration outside the hospital last Saturday, calling for an end to the poverty wages they are paid by the NHS contractor.

The campaign, led by GMB activist Joe Wheatley, is calling for an end to poverty pay for the outsourced workers and for pay to be uplifted to the same rate as NHS workers in other local hospitals who are doing identical roles but receiving £1.28 per hour more.

Speaking at the demo, Joe Wheatley, said:

We're demonstrating today because 264 employees who are outsourced by Calderdale Royal Hospital are only paid minimum wage, and they've had enough of poverty pay.

“Catering, cleaning, security and other staff at Calderdale Royal Hospital want pay parity with NHS rates.

“It’s time for ISS to do the right thing and pay these workers the right rate for the job.”
