SEVERFIELD WORKERS TO CONDUCT ROLLING STRIKES FOLLOWING RECORD SUPPORT FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION

93% of the workforce vote to down tools.

Hundreds of workers at Severfield have today voted to take strike action over pay and conditions.  93% of members voted to take industrial action. Turnout in the ballot was 95%.

Despite huge profits and ever-increasing directors pay, staff have once again been offered a disappointing pay deal.

Ben Kirkham, GMB Regional Organiser said:

“It’s vital Severfield invests in Dalton and those who work here. Staff can all see that they are struggling to retain and recruit skilled workers. If the company wants to deliver its growth plan, then it needs a world class workforce."

“Hundreds of workers have now voted by massive majorities three times to take industrial action. It’s time that management realise that this workforce stands united and pay up”
