The GMB Yorkshire and North Derbyshire region is holding its first ever councillor Conference. On October 10th in Leeds we're hosting a one day event to bring together councillors from across the region.
On October 10th in Leeds we're hosting a one day event to bring together councillors from across the region to talk about best practice and how to deliver for the people we all represent when the Tories are slashing funding at every turn. Sign up to attend here: www.gmbpolitics.org.uk/yorks_councillor_conference_2015
We will be running sessions on:
- How to bring money in when the Tories are taking it out
- Engaging with BAME communities
- Work, pay and rights at work
The sessions will all be workshop/discussion based - it's not going to be a case of people talking at you for a day. We'll invite councillors from different areas across the country to help lead discussions on some of the innovative policies being introduced elsewhere.
There will be an end of session plenary and reception that I've invited Labour's Shadow Minister to, with talk of a Northern Powerhouse and further devolution, there's an important debate to be had on what local government can deliver.
I hope you're able to make it along, with five more years of this government in Number 10 it's never been more important for us to work together across the movement, and the country. Click here to rsvp.
