GMB UNION TO LAUNCH PAY CLAIMS FOR OVER TEN THOUSAND WORKERS

Today (Wednesday 3 January 2024) GMB Union are launching pay claims that will benefit more than ten thousand workers across the North East, Yorkshire & Humber region.

GMB members working in manufacturing, engineering, retail, distribution, public services and the care sector, who are covered by pay bargaining agreements, will see the union’s new pay bargaining calendar initiative launched across hundreds of workplaces.

With an ongoing cost of living crisis, GMB are launching the new initiative to deliver strong pay deals ahead of the National Living Wage increase on 1 April 2024.

Over the next few months GMB will be consulting and organising with its members.

Colin Kirkham, from GMB Union, said:

“This is an historic period for union organising across the North East, Yorkshire and Humber region.

“In launching pay claims for ten thousand workers, GMB will be organising for a much-needed pay rise.

“Today we are putting employers on notice that we are going to be using our considerable resources to improve terms and conditions across hundreds of workplaces to make work better.”
