SOUTH TYNESIDE FACES NEW REFUSE STRIKES AFTER COUNCIL COVER UP

South Tyneside council refuses to share report on bullying and harassment, reveals GMB Union.

South Tyneside council has refused to share with workers an independent report on toxic working practices, it emerged today (Wednesday).

GMB have informed the Council that four more weeks of strike action will take place over the next three months.

The next action will start on 27-30 December.

Workers have long complained about a toxic management culture in  refuse, with GMB members being disciplined for going above and beyond for residents.

South Tyneside agreed to bring in an independent HR expert to review the service culture but are now refusing to share the produced report with the workforce.

Mark Wilson, GMB Organiser said: "This is a blatant cover up by South Tyneside Council.

"It is staggering that they are holding back the promised independent report, no doubt because it vindicates GMB's position that bullying is widespread.

"We have therefore reluctantly resolved to take regular strike action over the next few months.

"We will not rest until the council break this toxic culture once and for all."
